Advancing Education & Engagement

Education and outreach are at the heart of the American Crystallographic Association’s mission. The ACA is committed to supporting inclusive learning and research experiences that engage scientists, educators, students, and the public—helping to inspire the next generation of crystallographers and structural scientists.

The ACA supports a wide range of educational and outreach activities, including crystal-growing competitions, educational videos, workshops, and public events. These initiatives reach learners of all ages and backgrounds across the United States and reflect the creativity and dedication of our community.

ACA-sponsored educational activities are developed by ACA members and may take many forms, such as schools, short courses, workshops, or publications. While programs vary in scope and audience, they generally support continuing education for experienced scientists, introductory training in crystallography, or educational resources for teachers and students. All initiatives advance the ACA’s mission to promote the study of the structure of matter and the methods used in structural science.
